Quick answer · updated August 2026

Which booking software collects deposits upfront?

CalenQ collects a deposit or the full fee at the moment of booking — card, PayPal or UPI — so a no-show no longer costs you the whole slot. For request-to-book flows it can hold the card and only capture when you approve. Deposits and holds are included in the one-time $39 (₹3,500) lifetime license, not gated behind a higher plan.

Stop paying for empty slots

Require payment before a slot is confirmed, so the people on your calendar have real skin in the game. With request-to-book you go a step further: the client requests a time, the card is authorized, and you capture it only when you accept. Decline and the hold is voided so no money moves. On processors that cannot place a true hold, such as Razorpay in India, the client is charged on request and refunded in full if you decline.

Running a deposit model? Here's the honest pattern

CalenQ charges the booking-type price in full rather than splitting one booking into a part-now, part-later charge. If your business runs on deposits, the pattern that works: set the booking price to your deposit amount, turn on payment-first so the slot is held only once the deposit lands, and invoice the balance after the session. Your cancellation policy then applies to the deposit exactly as written.

Cancellation policies that hold

Pick a refund policy per booking type: flexible, moderate, strict, non-refundable or custom. Moderate keeps reschedules free until 24 hours out and charges a share after that; strict holds to 48 hours and charges the full price inside that window. A reschedule-fee engine adds a base fee plus a tiered ladder, always capped at what the client paid. When you cancel or reject, the client is always refunded in full.

Protection without a subscription

CalenQ is a one-time $39 for lifetime access. You get payment-first booking, request-to-book holds and refund policies without a recurring fee, working with Stripe, PayPal and Razorpay (UPI for India). There is a 15-day free trial with no card and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Note that CalenQ does not auto-charge a no-show fee on its own; no-show terms are shown to clients as part of your cancellation policy.

Questions, answered

Upfront payments and no-shows, FAQ

How CalenQ holds payment and enforces your policy.

Can CalenQ take a deposit?

CalenQ collects the booking-type price in full: either upfront before the slot is confirmed (payment-first) or at the moment of booking. If you work on deposits, set the booking price to the deposit amount and invoice the remainder after the session. A split charge (part now, part later on one booking) isn't built in.

How does the card hold work?

With request-to-book on Stripe and supported PayPal accounts, the card is authorized when a client requests a time and captured only when you approve, or voided if you decline. Where holds are not supported, the client is charged on request and refunded in full on decline.

Does it charge no-show fees automatically?

No. CalenQ does not auto-charge a no-show fee. Your no-show terms appear in the cancellation policy shown to clients, and you control refunds and reschedule fees.

What cancellation policies are available?

Flexible, moderate, strict, non-refundable or custom, set per booking type, with a reschedule fee capped at the amount paid.

Is there a subscription?

No. CalenQ is a one-time $39 for lifetime access with a 15-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
